Gainesville Art
I bought this print ("60s Chick") yesterday from Store 101 here in Gainesville. It's by Erik Jones. For those of you who live in the 'ville, you should definitely check out Store 101. Located on Main Street (north of University, across from my second home--The Top), they've got some really cool clothes and a gallery upstairs. If you get there soon, you can check out Erik Jones's work. It's pretty amazing--my personal favorite is "Bride".
So yeah, support local businesses and get some cool stuff. Don't be boring.

Summer in the City by Regina Spektor
Summer in the city
Means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage
And I started miss you, baby, sometimes
I've been staying up drinking
In the late night establishments
Telling strangers personal things
Summer in the city
I'm so lonely, lonely, lonely
So I went to a protest
just to rub up against strangers
And I did feel like coming
but I also felt like crying
And it doesn't seem so worth it right now
And the castrated ones stand in the corner smoking
They wan't to feel the bulges in their pants start to rise
At the sight of a beautiful woman
They feel nothing
but anger
Her skin makes them sick in the night
Nauseaous, nauseaous, nauseaous...
Summer in the city
I'm so lonely, lonely, lonely
I've been hallucinating you, babe
at the backs of other women
And I tap 'em on the shoulder
and they turn around smiling but
there's no recognition in their eyes
Oh, summer in the city!
Means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage
Don't get me wrong, dear
In general I'm doing quite fine
It's just when it's summer in the city
and you are so long gone from the city I start to miss you, baby, sometimes...
When it's summer in the city
and you are so long gone from the city
I start to miss you. Baby. Sometimes.
Ooh, I start to miss you, baby, sometimes
Means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage
And I started miss you, baby, sometimes

Daddy's girl
My dad is making friends for me.
The girl who cuts his hair is apparently my age and so my dad told her I have no friends in Dallas and "could she please take his daughter to some parties or something while she's home."
I just find it absolutely hilarious that my dad is picking up younger women... so they can be my friends.
I love my family.

She's so artsy.
While there are plenty of other things I should be doing, I've been spending endless hours checking out artists on the ol' interwebs. A few of my picks follow:
Myke Amend. Dark, creepy, gothic, and totally unexpected from me, I know. I like it. I am drawn to art that makes me uncomfortable. My favorite is "The Rescue". It's very... Aldous Huxley?
Bailey Saliwanchik. Not only do her paintings remind me of the beautiful, wonderful women in my life, but her work is full of feeling. From her artist statement, "Her playful portrayals of traditional female archetypes reflect on themes of spirituality, sexuality, beauty, and a gentle relationship with nature." This woman would paint my portrait. In fact, I think she already has:
Strangely Drawn/Jim Hance. Just plain entertaining. His work is fun and clever. Check out the website if only to keep yourself entertained for a bit.
That's all for now. More to come soon.

The jet set.
I am going to New York City in 12 days, then Dallas on the 16th. I cannot wait. I need to put this semester behind me.

I'm sure I didn't ruin her, just made her more interesting
I am drunk, kind of.
I want to be out. Dancing. Making noise, making music, making love?
It's funny how I feel so liberated but I'm stuck here in my apartment. If I lived downtown I'd walk out my door and grab the first person I saw. I'd say something to them to try to make them see.
To be open and honest leaves us open and vulnerable, we all know that. I am open. I am open to the world.
Come and get me.
Am I just drunk? I feel high as a kite.

Welcome. Your featured presentation will begin after these messages:
So I'm a little late in jumping on the blog train, but at least I am finally along for the ride. No theme or common thread here, just random interesting or completely pointless tidbits that I chose to share with all of the interwebs.
While it is highly unlikely that anyone I do not already know will ever read this, allow me to introduce myself:
My name is Kathryn, but nobody ever calls me that. I am a Gemini, but really, that says nothing about me. My undergraduate major was Anthropology, but my Masters is in something completely different. I have red hair, which is an integral part of my identity.
